Art Reflections
Reflections on Art — a stream of thoughts on the creativity and freedom of the artist in contemporary society,
Today society is individualistic and it is clear that those in power are increasingly trying to fuel this idea of the cult of the individual’s ego and possessions.
People are not interested in a work of art, they are interested in owning it, always to enrich their own image even if they do not understand the value of the work and the meaning of its existence. Political and economic power always seeks to orient the masses, it seems evident that the way we all think in this society driven by political and economic power changes and has an impact on aesthetic research. I wonder if artists are truly free in their artistic expression.
Humans are all creative and I consider this a fundamental point. There are two ways to express yourself. The first is to do it for the pleasure of creating something from nothing that gives us pleasure in doing it. The second way is to create to be recognized as artists as special beings.
But in reality we are all unique and special. The world is growing and the energy level has changed from our past to today. Today we think of money as human capital, a value.
But if we think about it carefully, freedom and creativity are the values of human beings, the true capital. Therefore the artist is the one who seeks these values of freedom and dignity beyond any constraint.
Society tries to impose rules and restrictions. Society tries to impose rules and restrictions. The artist and the work of art have nothing to do with the concepts of morality, laws and institutions.
If indeed the energies and awareness of the human being have changed and grown, the artist has too, not to represent himself as a special being but as the creator of a work whose purpose is to have an energy, a life of its own, a freedom to exist.
