“Traces of Existence” is an artistic journey that explores the relationship between abstraction and the human figure, presenting previously unpublished works. Paolo Amoretti and Ilaria Berenice extraordinaryy blend the energy of color and lines with stylized silhouettes of faceless human figures, which appear and dissolve on their canvases. These figures, though depersonalized, are enlivened by an intense dynamism, suggesting the silent but perceptible presence of the human being in the chaos of the modern world.
The silhouettes represent the imperfection and fragility of man in a society where appearance often prevails over substance, revealing the essence of a humanity that moves in a continuous flow of energy, between chiaroscuro, contrasts and nuances. This artistic journey is a profound exploration of human identity, prompting the viewer to reflect on the true essence of existence.
For both artists, abstraction becomes a universal and instinctive language, a means to express the complexity of the human soul. In a world where images crush individuals under the weight of expectations, “Traces of Existence” offers a space of freedom, where human beings can re-emerge in their authenticity.
The exhibition will be open until September 22nd at Villa Caffarena, and is organized by Arte and Cuisine aps with the patronage of the Municipality of Serravalle Scrivia (AL).
Paolo Amoretti: Shadows and Lights in Humanity
In the works on display, Paolo Amoretti leads us into a vibrant and dynamic world, where the human figure takes shape in a stylized and depersonalized way. The silhouettes in his paintings, though faceless, are animated by an intense vitality and movement. These works explore the human condition, highlighting the fragility of identity in a society that prioritizes appearance over substance.
Amoretti’s compositions are distinguished by their bold use of color and the tension between abstraction and representation. The figures, reduced to simple outlines, tell complex stories of existence, interaction and change. The black lines, color overlays, and layered textures help create a sense of perpetual motion, reflecting the energy that flows through each work.
These paintings are an invitation to go beyond the apparent simplicity of forms to discover a humanity in constant transformation, navigating between the shadows and lights of existence. Amoretti leads us on an emotional and reflective journey, where each figure is a trace of life, a fragment of a larger collective story.
Ilaria Berenice: Energy, Movement, and Poetry
In the exhibition “Traces of Existence,” Ilaria Berenice offers a profound and visceral vision of humanity, exploring themes of light, energy, and movement. His works are an investigation into the very essence of energy, seen not only as a physical phenomenon, but as a vibrant and living force, manifested through light and color. Each work seems to pulsate with a life of its own, enveloping the viewer in a vortex of intense colors and fluid forms that evoke a sense of continuous becoming.
The compositions, rich in dynamism and vitality, integrate stylized human figures in movement, immersed in a bright and colorful universe, following the flow of energy that surrounds them. Light, a central element in his works, becomes a symbol of life, of a cosmic energy that guides humanity on its path. In some paintings, the figures move toward this light, drawn by a higher force, while in others, energy explodes from within, expressing pure vitality.
The theme of walking becomes a powerful metaphor for movement and the interaction between human beings and energy. The figures, far from a static representation, actively participate in the flow of energy, dancing and interacting with it in a kaleidoscope of emotions and movements. The pictorial work thus becomes a means to explore the profound connection between man and the invisible forces that permeate existence.
Each of Berenice’s works is accompanied by a poem, created specifically by the artist, which acts as an echo, response, or question arising from the encounter between the visual and the verbal. These poems do not simply describe the works, but expand the viewer’s sensory and emotional experience, inviting them to embark on a journey where colors, shapes, words, and meanings intertwine to create a complete artistic experience.
